As a webmaster, I like to find out my rankings for certain keywords via the major search engines. msn’s search engine live.com kept defaulting to local australian results. The way to get US results is on the live.com homepage, click on the options link and select your language and region as English (United States).

I was searching for what the best google analytics plugin was for wordpress, and found a three or so, but eventually decided on this one http://www.oratransplant.nl/uga/. Whilst I can’t yet comment on how good it is, I can say that it was extremely easy to setup. Simply a matter of uploading one file, activating it via the plugins manager, and then enetering your google analytics code in the options section.

Having used wordpress in the past, and with some of the best known blogs on the internet using wordpress, the choice of blogging software was really a simple choice. WordPress has a large number of themes available at http://themes.wordpress.net/. To get this blog started, I went with the Tiga theme, I may change it later down the track. I am a big fan of very light color backgrounds, and blues are generally a good choice for business related websites.

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year for 2007. My name is Ian and I run computerforum.com as well as a number of other sites. This blog and website as the domain suggests will cover all aspects of building, promoting and profiting from an Internet Business. It will also cover general news and happenings in the webmaster industry to help keep readers abreast of the latest trends and developments. I hope to make at least one post per day, well that is my intention. Tommorrow I hope to install a different wordpress theme.
